Weekly Learning Review 9.11.17


Class:  4A & 4B              Week Ending: 12/11/2017
Literacy
In Spelling, we learned about the suffixes –er, -ic and –al. We discussed news articles and read a newspaper style report called “The Secret Language of Dolphins”. After discussing the different features of articles; students wrote their own. In Grammar, we reviewed past and present tense verbs and introduced auxiliary verbs.
Mathematics
In Maths, we learned how to create and interpret frequency tables; tally charts and pictograms. We collected data by surveying students from other classes.
Science
In Science, we talked about the importance of the environment. We investigated how different animals can be found in different habitats and learned how some are suited to the environment in which they found. We learned how animals adapt to different habitats.
Humanities
During Humanities, we continued to learn about coastlines and how water changes the shape of the  land. We are beginning to learn about volcanoes.
Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship Education
We explained to the children that advertisers use different methods to get us to remember their products. We talked about their favourite advertisements and asked how they persuaded the children to buy their products.
