Weekly Learning Review

Week Ending:  23rd of November
Class: Year 4A & 4B                               Week Ending: 22/11/2017
This week’s spelling list is based on irregular verbs. The students are learning to differentiate between past tenses; regular verbs and irregular verbs. Irregular verbs are verbs whose past tense and past participle are not formed by adding –ed, -d, or –t to the present tense. It does not follow the general rules of inflection.
This week’s assembly was based on ‘Respect. Students understood the meaning of respect and wrote about how one can respect others and oneself.
Students have learned the elements of a clock and can explain its functions. We have discussed the differences between the two kinds of clocks: analogue and digital. They can tell the time based on minutes ‘past’ and ‘to’ the hour. Telling the time has been taught by the five-minute intervals. As an activity, students used model clocks to help solve problems related to time. They are also learning to distinguish between am and pm. Also, they are able to measure time (a day is 24 hours; an hour has 60 minutes and a minute lasts 60 seconds).
We have been learning about living things in their environment. Students this week have learned that human activity affects the environment. Some effects of human activity can be positive, such as cleaning water; recycling waste or preventing pollution from reaching rivers. Other effects can be negative, such as polluting the air, land or water around us; damaging the environment or removing habitats.
Note from teachers:
Other lessons have been used to practice for the Christmas show. Please ensure that your child has memorized his/her parts in the play, along with the songs.
