Weekly Learning Review - Week Ending: 24 May 2018

Weekly Learning Review
Class:  4A & 4B                                           Week Ending: 24/5/2018
·         Spelling: This week’s spelling list is about common word roots. We used Quizlet flashcards to introduce words and definitions. Here is the link:
·         Reading Comprehension:  Students read a passage about an opinion letter. They learned the format of persuasive writing.
·         Creative Writing:  Since comprehension has been about persuasion this week, students learned how to debate a topic. They had a chance to speak persuasively and at length in order to expand and explain their arguments to an audience.
·         Grammar: Every sentence must have a subject and a verb. The verb must always agree with the subject. This week, students learned how to write sentences that have subject/verb agreement.
·         Co-ordinates:  With coordinates, you always move across first and then up or down. This week, we described positions on a 2-D grid as coordinates in the first quadrant.
·         Addition: Pupils can add numbers with up to 4 digits using the formal written methods of columnar addition.
·         5.3: Electricity: Students explored how an electrical device will not work if there is a break in the circuit. Electricity can only flow when a circuit is complete.
·         5.4 – Electrical Current: We learned that electric current flows and that models can describe this flow.
