Weekly Learning Review
Class:  4A & 4B                                           Week Ending: 3/5/2018
Literacy
·         Spelling: This week’s spelling list consists of words that contain ‘ough’ and ‘ear’. Students learned how to define and spell the words.
·         Reading Comprehension: Poems are about creating an image and feeling for the reader/listener. Students learned how to use spoken poetry to express feelings of poem.
·         Creative Writing: Students learned how to write a Haiku poem. Haiku poems have three lines of 5, 7 and 5 syllables.
·         Grammar: Possessive adjectives are adjectives that tells us who the owner of something is. Possessive pronouns are used to replace the possessive adjective and the noun. Students learned how to use and identify possessive adjective and pronouns, along with punctuating it correctly in sentences.
Mathematics
·         Direction: Students learned the cardinal directions (North, South, East and West).
·         Multiplication: Students recognized and used factor pairs and commutativity in mental calculations.
Science
·         Soundproofing Materials: Some materials allow sound to travel through them very easily. Hard solids such as wood and metals are good at transmitting sounds. Other materials, especially soft ones such as foam or cotton wool, absorb or dampen sound. When these materials are combined with air, which is a poor transmitter of sound, or other gases, they work more effectively. Students investigated how some materials are effective in preventing sound from travelling through them.
